What a conflict-of-interest check looks at

Green, amber or red: how Mondeed's conflict check tests a gig against your employer, its competitors, your hours and your contract, and what each rating means.

By The Mondeed team · · 1 min read

Before any gig reaches you, Mondeed's Conflict Check agent tests it against your day job. The goal is simple: you should never have to guess whether a gig is safe to consider.

The checks

  • Employer: is the company your employer, a parent or subsidiary, or on your blocklist?
  • Competitors: does it compete with your employer for the same product or customers?
  • Hours: does the working window overlap your day-job hours?
  • Contract: does anything you told us about your contract apply?
  • IP overlap: is the work close enough to your job that code, data or know-how could cross over?

What the ratings mean

  • Green: no conflicts found. You'll still see anything worth a second look.
  • Amber: something needs your judgement, such as a notice clause. The report says what.
  • Red: a clear conflict. Red gigs never reach you, and you never reach that company.

Where AI helps, and where it stops

Rules catch the obvious cases. The agent reads the gig and the company profile to spot less obvious ones, like a startup building a tool your employer sells, and explains its reasoning in plain language. When it isn't sure, it rates the gig amber and tells you what to check. The decision is always yours.
